I’m sharing one of my 13 moments with former players Ash & Lauren. I would meet them and their dads Jay & Pete out at the field to work on pitching, take some batting practice, and do some infield/outfield stuff in October/ November—when the sun barely stuck around after a long day at work and there was a chill in the air. We’d have just a little glow from the nearby football field lighting up the softball diamond, and the dads would get creative by turning on their car headlights to keep us going. It’s moments like these—the extra effort in tough, dim conditions—that truly build the foundation for reaching our goals and showing up bigger than the scoreboard.
